Meadow On The Ridge is a family home, which we share as a Homestay with a discerning few. Adjoining a forest area, it is around a 20 minutes drive from the heart of Kasauli. Meadow On The Ridge is ideally situated at a peaceful, scenic location away from the noise and crowds of the main town. Feel your muscles relaxing as the quiet seeps into you. Spend your days reading, going for walks or generally unwinding. The nearest market for shopping is Kasauli, which is about 20 minutes away. However, for daily needs, one can walk down a kilometer to do daily shopping from the local village.
The complex is divided into 3 structures – the main villa which has 5-bedrooms in which 2 bedrooms are offered in the home stay (Mist view and Mountain Breeze), while 3 bedrooms are the private residence of the owner. Mist View is attached with a fully equipped kitchenette, while Mountain Breeze has an attic. Both these rooms can accomodate extra mattreses. Other than this,Forest Edge Cottage comprises 4 rooms, Oak, Pine, Cedar and Maple. This cottage is given out as a unit. Each room is fitted with queen size beds and accomodates maximum 2 persons. Extra persons are not accomodated in Forest Edge.
There is another single bedroom cottage (Bamboo Grove) with a charming reheating alcove. This rooms can accomodate extra mattreses.
The colonial influence can clearly be seen in the lion guardian statues that welcome you to the house. Wood and cast-iron furniture, quaint fireplaces, and beautiful stained-glass windows enhance the ambience.

Bedrooms
- The main villa offers 2 beautifully designed bedrooms. The Two bedrooms are Mountain Breeze and Mist View. Mist view is equipped with a kitchen, while Mountain Breeze has an attic. Both these rooms can accomodate extra mattresses at a charge.
- The owners have their own portion in the main villa, which is part of their private section.
- The Bamboo Grove is a separate 1-bedroom cottage with an ensuite bathroom. It is equipped with a small reheating alcove and a sit out area. It can accomodate an extra mattreses at a charge.
- There is a 3bhk cottage, that goes by the name Forest Edge, situated next to the villa. This is given out as an entire cottage. The three bedrooms are Pine, Cedar and Oak. It is attached with a kitchen and dining area. It cannot accomodate extra mattresses.
- Some bedrooms have balconies with seating with a view of the mountains and lush green valley, others open out to green areas and gardens.
- All the rooms have Flat LED -TV's installed in them for entertainment.
- All bedrooms have Queen sized beds(150cm x 200cm). Extra mattresses can be provided in Mountain Breeze, Mist view and Bamboo Grove on request and are chargeable.
- All bedrooms have heaters installed in them as the weather tends to turn cold due to its location.
- Fresh linen and pillows are provided in all rooms on arrival.
- The rates quoted are for a maximum of 2 person(s) per room. Extra occupancy over this is chargeable. Infants who share their bed with their parents will not be charged (Childeren below the age of three years).
Bathrooms
- All rooms have ensuite bathrooms.
- All bathrooms are modern and have geysers for hot water supply.
- Essentials such as towels and basic toiletries are provided.
Living Room
- There is a spacious Living Room which is the highlight of the house. It can be used by the guests. It has a perfect colonial setting with period furniture. Enjoy a game of cards in the Living Room. Enjoy the monsoon-watching, the pitter-patter of the rain. For many it is the perfect place to catch up with their reading.
Neighbourhood, Activities in and around, Distance
- This villa is conveniently located in Jagjit Nagar, Kasauli Hills Distt. Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
- Indoor games like Monopoly, cards, Ludo, and Pictionary are available at the villa.
- The lawns can be used to play a game or croquet (A croquet set is available on the property).
- It is a bird watchers paradise. Rare birds can be spotted early in the morning.
- The hills around are a walker's delight.
- The large lawns are an ideal place to do yoga.
- The heritage market of kasauli is not to be missed (20 minutes). At the same time visit the church made by the British (in the 1800's) at kasauli. A 10 minute drive from the church is Manki point(the highest spot in kasauli).
- Sabathu contonment built by the British army is not to be missed (40 minutes). Presently it is the Indian Army's Gorkha regimental center.
- The hill stations of Shimla and Chail are just 2 hours away. The highest cricket field in India, at Chail is not be missed.
- Take a walk to see various temples with their deity's (As per myth the Pandava's stayed here during their travels around India).
- Take a walk to see the 25-million-year-old fossil of a palm tree (20 mins walk).
- Take a walk to see a natural spring on either side of the property (10mins walk).
- Distance from Chandigarh airport 85 km.
- Distance from Chandigarh Railways Station 75 km.
- Distance from Kalka Railways Station 50 km.
- Distance from Dharampur Heritage Railways Station 15 km.
- Take a drive in any direction for 1 hour to reach a hill stream.

Kitchen & Meals
- Advance information needs to be given of your food preferences. It would be advisable to ring us up three days prior to your arrival so that all materials for prepration of the food are available.
- Incase an advance list of ration and other requirements is not given 3 days prior to your coming, the purchase will be done on the guest arrival. The delay in their meal and non-availability of some items should be pardoned.
- A trained chef is available at an additional cost. He can prepare tasty dishes as per request. Incase this service is required and the guests want to be provided the provisions. This Form has to be filled and send to us 3 days in advance. The ration we maintain is 1 cook up to 6 guests. Incase the group is larger than 6 guests, it is suggested that 2 cooks are hired.
- In case the guest want to avail the above option.
- The kitchen opens at 8AM in the morning. Everything for your morning cup of tea/coffee is available in your room. After lunch, the staff takes an hour-long break. Lunch is over by 2.30PM. The house closes down by 11PM. No staff is available after that. However, your party can continue.
- In case staff is kept up late, the kitchen will open those many hour late in the morning and so will be the services of the helpers.
- A tandoor is available at a charge of Rs 1000 per wood fill
- Breakfast is served between 9AM and10.30AM. We serve dinner by latest 10.30PM, as the home kitchen closes for the night after that. Please place your lunch/dinner orders before arrival.
- Crockery is available at the villa for 25 people.
Guest Access
Guests have access to the common areas supported in and around the property. The entry is restricted in the private area of the owner in the main cottage.
Interaction with Guests
A trained and responsible caretaker is also present at the property to resolve any concerns and help you have a perfect stay.
